Nicolas Paul-Dauphin, CEO & Founder Oxan Energy

What inspired the creation of Oxan Energy, and what opportunities do you see for the company?

While working in this market for more than twelve years, the creation of Oxan Energy was driven by the belief that floating wind energy is at the beginning of a long and exciting journey. The market is still in its early stages and growing rapidly, presenting a unique opportunity to shape its future. The idea to launch a new developer with a quickly assembled operational team of experienced professionals was at the heart of Oxan Energy’s inception.

Floating wind energy is a promising market in Europe and even globally. It’s accelerating, with large tenders upcoming in France and hopefully soon in Portugal and Spain for the next to come. We aim to participate in these tenders and simultaneously pursue greenfield projects in dedicated countries.

Oxan Energy’s added value lies in our team’s extensive experience – over 12 years in floating offshore wind in Europe and beyond. We have gathered all the necessary technical skills and competencies to develop successful projects.

In your view, what are the most significant trends and challenges currently facing the floating wind industry? How is Oxan Energy addressing these?

The floating wind industry is at a turning point. Several countries have announced ambitious plans for floating wind energy development, while supporting the supply chain to ensure readiness for large-scale deployment which are more critical than ever.

The industry faces several challenges. On top of some technical challenges like optimizing turbines integration, managing increasingly larger wind turbines and conducting major component replacement, as well as industrial infrastructures readiness to support the industry development, the main question remains the actual societal dilemma between electricity prices and value creation in Europe.

As a developer, our philosophy is straightforward: we strive for transparency, dialogue, and building strong & long-term relationships. Based in France, we have a deep understanding of the national context and will leverage support from local stakeholders in our international projects.

Where do you envision Oxan Energy in the next five years?

That’s a very good one! In five years, we aspire to be well on our way to become an Independent Power Producer (IPP). We expect to actively participate in various projects at different stages of development and to be involved in multiple markets across the five continents.

If all goes well, we will also explore other marine energy sources. Our vision is to find sustainable energy solutions using offshore natural resources. The name of Oxan comes from the  contraction of ‘ocean’ and ‘X’ for technologies.

Why Seanergy?
